Firefox turns 5

Congrates to Firefox on its 5th birthday! Version 1.0 was released on the 9-11-2004 and was quickly adopted by many Web developers for its reliability at rendering web pages correctly using Web standard code. Now we have version 3.x going strong and if one looks at IE6, 7 and 8 as seperate browsers, (in a sense they are), that would make Firefox the most used browser.

Firefox is a Go!

As this site has been designed with Firefox in mind, to view it in its full glory, you need Firefox! You know, a Browser? The most important piece of software on your computer! Apart from the OS (Operating System). Without a browser you can't view the internet.

Like most things, we like to have the best that there is on offer. Now, I'm not saying Firefox is the best, all I'm saying is that I believe it's one of the more reliable for displaying Web content correctly. It's secure plus nice & fast comparied to IE (Internet Explorer). As Firefox is open source, things are fixed and kept up to date at a faster pace than IE.

If you would like to try Firefox for faster, more secure and more standards compiant browsing experience, then look to the left and you will see a Firefox image, click there & on the following page you can download Firefox or gather more information regarding the Firefox community.

Don't forget that IE & Firefox are not the only Browsers out there. Have a look around, see what suits your needs for Security, Functionality, Speed & or ease of use. Don't forget, browsers are free!

If your wanting to know of more browsers available, you can visit Wikipedia for a comparison of Browsers and the percentages being used. From there, you can see lots of other browsers you can choose from.

Borg Speak is what I've called the browser based chat client. Provided by Xatech. Chat with other visitors of the site or use it as a back up if your regulular chat client goes down. You never know, I may be online and have time to chat about any topic at Borgs Enterpise. If you don't ask, the answer will always be no! If I am online, I may not be able to respond to you for any number of reason that I won't go into. Lets just say, life. Other than that, you will just have to wait for the email addresses in the making contact section where email options will be available.

Beginners HTML Tutorial

Have you ever wanted to create a Web page or site but not sure where to start besides maybe the subject matter?

This tutorial is a great place for beginners to start. Based on the handbook "How to make a Web site from A to Z" © by John Horner. This was converted for the Web as my first project and now you to could teach yourself how to develop your own Web presence with in a matter of hours.

Star Trek

Layout is based on the LCARS (Library Computer Access and Retrieval System) from Star Trek. I believe this makes a nice tribute for the phenomenon that has survived a life span of over 40 years, with many more years left in the old girl.

Episode guides with the first aired date for the US is the starting point, synopses for all your favourite episodes plan to evolve over the next few months.
Thank you Gene...

Multiple Sclerosis

MS is a mysterious disease. Besides the fact that we do not yet know what causes it, but its symptoms can be rather sneaky, as in, they can come and go at the blink of an eye (ok, maybe not that fast). Symptoms can last for a few seconds to a few hours and even longer. Then there are the unknown symptoms, meaning that symptoms are not necessarily going to be the same each time you have a relapse and or the same for each patient that suffers this ailment.

The treatment also varies per patient depending on the severity of symptoms at the time. Some are starting with pre-measured doses of Interferon beta-1a (rch) this was been designed for self-administration into the fatty tissues of the body. If you do not like the idea of needles, there are always other options like Azathioprine (Imuran).

As of July 1st 2008, the Australian PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) has placed Nataliziumab (Tysabri) on their list of subsidised pharmaceuticals for those on a low income. This is good news as the drug in expensive at $2000 AUD per treatment. For some, this could be once a fortnight.

To any of you out there that also suffer from MS. Don't let it get the better of you. Plod along each day as best you can and do not be too hard on yourself. That is all anyone can expect.

DEMOLITION ZONE

Borgs Enterprise is a testing ground for what I learn in Web Development using online tutorials. I like to call it, a "Demolition Zone". I think that's an apt name for a trial by error coder that I am.

If you have a suggestion, feel free to send an email with your idea. First Contact can be made from the Contact Us section of the site.

ENGINEERING

Nothing happens in a hurry at Engineering, just like a mans shed, little by little.

The Home page and HTML Tutorial are my main projects at present.

Last but not least, intentions to design some custom error pages. Star Trek based of course.
